Producing

I believe that producing is about creating a positive and friendly environment to let the artist express themselves with minimal interference. It is about getting the best out of a performer and letting them play the music they want to.

I produced my first recording by accident when I went to Lucerne in 2011 as an assistant engineer to make a recording with the London Steve Reich Ensemble playing the Triple Quartet, Different Trains and a new arrangement of Piano Counterpoint. When asked who was producing, they replied we were! So, after assisting the recording set up, I sat in the producer’s chair… It seemed to go well and I was thrilled to hear recently that the recording was voted one of the 30 Best recordings of the last 30 years by BBC Music Magazine!
